Walking routes in Europe

My Walking Routes

Routes, experiences and travel stories on foot

Walking

My name is Alberto Foppa Vicenzini, and I am a passionate long-distance walker. I do not know exactly why, but walking gives me joy and mental well-being: it makes me feel good, helps me relax, and whenever I can, I escape from civilisation and let my steps guide me.

Over the years, I have completed several walking routes across Italy and Europe, each with different landscapes, lengths, and levels of difficulty, yet all sharing the same element: slow travel.

On this page, you will find a collection of the main routes I have walked. These are not technical guides but summaries of personal experiences along the way, accompanied by maps and essential stage information to help you get oriented.

Why I Walk

Walking slowly helps you notice the details that speed hides. It helps you discover beauty in the simplest things: the glow of a wheat field in the sun, the trembling of green leaves in the wind. Step after step, all of this begins to sink in: tension fades, and a sense of serenity fills your mind. You feel part of the nature around you, in complete harmony with everything that surrounds you, and you never want to stop walking. This is the main reason why I walk: a simple yet deeply powerful act.
